575a. Cultural Diversity in Health Care.1 credit hour. This two-day workshop/seminar focuses on the concepts of culture and ethnicity and their effect on health beliefs and practices within the context of health care delivery. Diversity, vulnerability, and health disparities are also examined in relation to culture and ethnicity. Cultural assessments of individual health care providers and health care systems are presented and cultural competency defined and described. The Office of Minority Health National Standards for Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Services provides the criterion for cultural competency. Required of all students in the nursing management, policy, and leadership specialty; available to others with permission of the instructor. Web-based instruction with monthly on-campus sessions. G.
