“Yale Nurses and Leadership: From Vision to Voice" was the theme of this year’s YSN Alumnae/i Reunion Weekend, with nonstop events September 25-27.
Speed Mentoring ushered in the start of the weekend, featuring YSN alumnae/i talking to current students about their careers and finding a job after YSN.
Friday’s activities included three sessions led by YSN alumnae/i, and then a trip to the Yale Center for British Art, where keynote speaker Angela McBride, ‘64 PhD, Distinguished Professor and University Dean Emerita at Indiana University School of Nursing, shared her thoughts on leadership and career development, as well personal stories. Following the keynote address, Dr. McBride was awarded the Yale University School of Nursing Medal. Dr. McBride also participated in the Saturday’s discussion with fellow eminent nurses Ada Sue Hinshaw ‘63, Donna Diers ’64, and Sue Fitzsimons. Over the course of the weekend’s five sessions, 15 YSN alumnae/i shared their stories of leadership.
YSN alumnae/i celebrating their 25th and 50th reunions (and beyond!) gathered Friday night for dinner at historic Mory’s. The traditional Alumnae/i Banquet was held Saturday evening at the Graduate Club, where Bernice Coleman ’83 received the 2008 Distinguished Alumna Award. Special Recognition Awards were also given to Lisa Summers ’83, and posthumously to John Collins ’72.
