Community Health Conference in Spain
(Oct 2007)
During the first week of October, YSN Community Health faculty Juliette Shellman attended the International Conference for Community Health Nursing Research in Grenada, Spain. Community Health experts from around the world presented research on such topics as development of cultural competence, management of chronic illness, and long term care.

Symposium sessions included discussions about designing meaningful international community health experiences for students, as well as the need to develop culturally competent education and training for nurses working in European countries with large immigrant populations. The conference was interesting and has opened doors for collaborations between YSN and other schools of nursing in Europe and South America.
The next ICCHNR conference will be held in Australia in 2009.
