Preceptors for RN Program Specialties
YSN currently enrolls over
250 Masters students across six clinical specialties:
Adult Advanced Practice Nursing (AAPN),
Adult, Family, Gerontological, and Women's Health Primary Care (AFGWH),
Nurse-Midwifery (NM),
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP),
Psychiatric-Mental Health (PMH),
Nursing Management, Policy and Leadership (NMPL).
Requirements
What are the necessary requirements to be a preceptor?
- RN degree
- Master's degree
- CV submitted to office of clinical affairs
- Currently in practice in advanced nurse practitioner setting for a minimum of 0ne full year
- CV Submitted to Office of Clinical Affairs along with completed Courtesy Faculty Data collection Form for official registration as courtesy faculty.

Precepting Load & Duration
Usually precepting assignments are for a full semester; however, some assignments are for the full academic year .
Each session is usually an eight-hour clinical day. Some precepting sessions are observational, when their durations may be shorter. Precepting is arranged on a year-to-year basis.
