Mark your calendars for the 2008 YSN Commencement, to be held on Monday, May 26, at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven. The commencement address will be given by Barbara Smith, PhD, RN, FACSM, FAAN, Professor and Associate Dean for Research at The University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Nursing. Her talk is titled, "Does Yale Nursing really matter?"
Dr. Smith is currently involved with a number of research initiatives, including "A Physical Activity and Nutrition Intervention in HIV" and "Nurse Educator in Kenya: Rapid Expansion of Antiretroviral Therapy Programs." In 2004 and 2006, Dr. Smith received the Distinguished Lecturer award by the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care.
Our diploma ceremony will be held at the Shubert Theater, 247 College Street. A reception for graduates, their families, and guests will be held at the Omni New Haven Hotel, 155 Temple Street, immediately following the diploma ceremony. Tickets are required for both the diploma ceremony and reception.
