New Haven, CT — September 8, 2005
Cynthia Anne Connolly, Assistant Professor and the Yale School of Nursing and at History of Medicine and Science, Yale School of Medicine, has been selected to receive the 2005 Lavinia L. Dock award from the American Association for the History of Nursing (AAHN).
Each year AAHN awards the Lavinia L. Dock Award to an experienced scholar of nursing history who has produced a piece of outstanding original research and writing. Dr. Connolly will receive the award at the AAHN's annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia in September, 2005.
Dr. Connolly's winning article was published in the Nursing History Review volume 12 [pp 5-24] in 2004 and is entitled: Beyond social history: New approaches to understanding the state of and the state in nursing history. It is a theoretical and methodological critique of contemporary historiography that puts forward a new research agenda for nursing history that interweaves social, political, and policy history.
