Nancy Redeker named Professor and Associate Dean for Scholarly Affairs

Nancy S. Redeker, PhD, RN, was recently appointed Professor and Associate Dean for Scholarly Affairs at Yale University School of Nursing (YSN). She comes to YSN from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Nursing, where she served as Professor and Associate Dean for Research.
Dr. Redeker's program of research is focused on sleep, sleep disorders, and circadian rhythms of activity-rest in persons who have heart disease. She has also conducted studies on self-management strategies used by home care clients with heart failure and psychosocial responses of patients with heart disease.
Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Nurses Foundation, the American Heart Association, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Dr. Redeker has published numerous data-based, theoretical, and clinical papers in peer-reviewed journals and is a frequent presenter at national and international scholarly meetings. Her scholarship has been recognized by awards from the Heart Failure Society of America, the American Heart Association, and the Office of the Governor of the State of New Jersey. She is currently conducting a study of sleep and functional performance in heart failure, funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research.
