The Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS) was established in 1988 as a forum for nurse researchers to promote and support regional nursing research in the Northeastern United States. Its goals include:
- Providing a forum for dissemination and critique of nursing research
- Stimulating interest in the scientific study of nursing phenomena
- Linking nurses with similar research interests
- Promoting recognition of nursing as a scientific discipline
- Promoting evidence-based nursing practice
- Fostering ethical standards in research.
