Message from the Associate Dean

At Yale University School of Nursing (YSN) we are proud of our role in advancing knowledge about human health and illness. The School was founded with the dual missions of scholarship and service and we remain steadfast in our commitment to improving health of the population across the lifespan and across states of health through research, clinical practice and educating nursing leaders. Part of one of the world's most distinguished research universities,YSN enjoys a national and international reputation for the excellence of the scholarship of its faculty, students, and alumni.
At YSN, scholarship reflects the intersections among basic and behavioral science, healthcare, and nursing practice. Faculty and students focus on strategies to address the most pressing global health care problems, such as diabetes, sleep disorders, cancer, heart disease, HIV-AIDS, and mental health. Interdisciplinary research programs at YSN span the human developmental spectrum and address the health care needs of mothers and children, adolescents, and adults of all ages and in many contexts. We have a particular interest in self- and family management in chronic illness and improving health outcomes for people who are vulnerable due to disparities in health care and other personal and contextual factors.
We are a diverse community of scholars with a varied research portfolio. Yet, this research is focused on a common goal: better health care for all people.
This is actualized through scholarship across the translational continuum, ranging from basic research in biology and health-related behavior to clinical trials, research dissemination, contributions to health policy, and evidence-based practice.
We invite you to learn more about our scholarship and encourage you to share the goal of promoting better health care for all people.
