Tara Trimarchi

Tara is the Advanced Practice Nurse Manager for the divisions of Critical Care, Radiology and Sedation at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and is a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing. Tara earned a BSN from the University of Connecticut and an MSN from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1998, she was the first nurse practitioner hired to practice in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at CHOP and she served as a member of the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board’s inaugural Acute Care Role Delineation Workgroup, Nurse Practitioner Certification Advisory Panel and Exam Development Committee. In 2002, she was awarded the UPenn School of Nursing’s Recent Alumni Award for Clinical Excellence for her contributions to the development of the nurse practitioner role in pediatric critical care. In addition to her clinical career at CHOP, Tara worked as a Senior Consultant to Information Services and as the Manager for Quality Improvement. Tara applies her knowledge of informatics and performance improvement to manage the data-driven innovation of APN care delivery models – work which earned her the 2013 CHOP Safe Keeping Achievement and CNO Patient Safety Team Awards. She also publishes and lectures on healthcare quality and patient safety.
