Dorothy J. MacLennan* ‘52

90 Outstanding Yale Nurses Recipient

Class of 1952

After receiving her MN degree from YSN in 1952, Dorothy MacLennan, MN, MA, M.Ed, D.Ed, spent 16 years in nursing service administrative positions at Yale-New Haven Hospital, during which time she earned her MA in Nursing Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. In 1968, she resumed studies at Teachers College and received her M.Ed and D.Ed in Nursing Education.

Her positions in nursing education were as assistant professor at the University of Connecticut School of Nursing’s master program, as assistant professor and chair of the pediatric nursing program at YSN, and as consultant and director of the Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree programs at the National League for Nursing in New York City.
