Critical care nurse and pioneer author of a New York Times bestseller, Echo Heron will be the featured special guest at the 2012 Yale University School of Nursing Creative Writing Awards on Thursday, April 26, 2012, 6 p.m., at the New Haven Lawn Club.
This annual event is a celebration of "Yale Nurses writing nursing." Three entries have been chosen as finalists by our distinguished panel of judges, which includes Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anna Quindlen and former Dean and author Donna Diers, among others.
Heron is the author of seven best-selling books, primarily in the true medicine genre. Her first book, Intensive Care; The Story of a Nurse, became a New York Times best seller immediately. Heron’s stories entice the reader by giving them an inside look behind the closed doors of critical care units. She also tells intriguing stories of life and death that take place in busy urban hospitals.
