Yale School of Nursing and Yale-New Haven Hospital are co-sponsors for the second annual Joint Nursing Grand Rounds, taking place on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 pm in the Harkness Auditorium. The Master Class, "Speaking of Nursing: Narratives of Practice, Research, Policy, and the Profession", will feature Donna Diers PhD, RN, FAAN, Annie W. Goodrich Professor Emerita and Lecturer in the Nursing Management, Policy and Leadership program at YSN.
The interview will be conducted by Diane Vorio, MS, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Vice President Patient Services and Associate Chief of Nursing at YNHH's York Street Campus. The class is targeted toward nursing leaders, SNC, and nursing staff, as well as YSN faculty and students, and will provide a unique context in which to gain a more in-depth perspective on nursing and leadership, as well as personal and professional development through the interview with Dr. Diers.
The objectives of the course are to look back with a master of nursing leadership to identify significant developments and challenges in nursing and health care, discover key statements from the interview which evoke challenging, innovative, controversial and futuristic perspectives on the evolution of nursing, and discover useful insights to inspire and plan for leadership development.
