About

Allison Cable is a Senior Lecturer in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialty. She teaches first specialty year acute care students in advanced assessment and advanced diagnostics of the acutely and critically ill, critical care pharmacology and AG ACNP clinicals. She was the recipient of the Daisy Faulty Award and Nightingale Aware for Excellence in Nursing for her teaching.

Dr. Cable obtained her BSN from the University of Connecticut. She received her MSN from Yale University and DNP from MGH Institute of Health Professions. Her DNP project consisted of implementing end of life communication simulation into the YSN AG ACNP curriculum. She received the Lavinia Lloyd Dock Award for Scholarly Writing for her DNP project.

She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Society of Critical Care Medicine..

Research Interests/Clinical Practice

Research Interests

Allison’s master’s thesis focused on predictors of prolonged intubation after cardiac surgery and the evaluation of a standardized method of liberation from the ventilator. In her other research experience, she conducted interviews and assisted in data entry in studies at YSN and UCONN.

Clinical Practice

Dr. Cable is an acute care nurse practitioner in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital where she cares for critically ill patients with complex pulmonary and general medical illnesses. She has also worked in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Yale-New Haven, Neuro-Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Hartford Hospital, and well as a staff nurse in the Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care Unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
