Congratulations to YSN’s Eleven New Nurse Corps Scholars

September 23, 2015

September 23, 2015 – YSN is proud to announce 11 students were awarded the selective NURSE Corps Scholarship Program (NCSP) this year. The recipients are Patricia Cavanaugh ‘18, Ana Sofia De Brito ‘17, Courtney Hooks ‘17, Noelle Kellicker ‘17, Lynmarie Knight ‘17, Hung Le ‘18, Sarah Long ‘17, Nancy Pham ‘17, Katherine Rathbun ‘18, Kristina Seitler ‘17, and Aliza Kreisman ‘17.

NCSP enables students accepted or enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate or graduate nursing program to receive funding for tuition, fees, and other educational costs in exchange for working at an eligible Nurse Corps site upon graduation. Ultimately, the program helps the critical shortage of nurses that has been experienced in some health care facilities.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive. Thousands of students apply from schools across the country, yet less than 10 percent of applicants are selected as recipients.  YSN congratulates the new scholars, who join the list of 12 other YSN students who were named in 2013 and 2014.

NURSE Corps gives nurses nationwide the opportunity to turn their passion for service into a lifelong career through the NCSP and the NURSE Corps Loan Repayment Program. It helps to build healthier communities in urban, rural and frontier areas by supporting nurses and nursing students committed to working in communities with inadequate access to care.
