YSN Students Win American Cancer Society Scholarship Awards

April 27, 2017
Nine YSN students have been awarded the American Cancer Society’s Graduate Scholarship in Cancer Nursing Practice.

Andrea Desmond, Danielle DiPerna, and Shannon Meagher from the Class of 2019 will each receive $10,000 per year for the next two years.

Rosabelle Conover, Lisa Hammon, Elle Levy, Michael Levien, Julie Palmer-Hoffman, and Katie Straw from the Class of 2018 will receive $10,000 for next year.

According to the American Cancer Society, the award “supports graduate students pursuing a master’s degree in cancer nursing or doctorate of nursing practice (DNP).” The scholarship prize is applied directly toward tuition.

The American Cancer Society awarded 15 Graduate Scholarship in Cancer Nursing Practice prizes this year to students nationwide, nine of which were garnered by these talented YSN students.

“The work these students put into their applications cannot be overstated,” said faculty-advisor Mark Lazenby.

Over the course of the past three years, 18 YSN students have applied and been selected (via a very rigorous grant-like process) to receive this prestigious scholarship.
