Abigail Tamru

Abigail Tamru is a family nurse practitioner who currently works for Mount Sinai Health System in the department of vascular surgery.

She has been in health care for eight years with roles in hospital, outpatient and home health setting. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from California State University Long Beach where she received a master’s degree in nursing. She also joined Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Prior to this, Abigail obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing with Cum Laude from Loma Linda University where she was involved in community outreach programs. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Abigail worked in a specialty clinic managing patients with diabetes, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hypertension and wounds.

Abigail is originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and came to the United States at 16 years of age without her parents. Because of this unique experience Abigail is passionate about sharing her story to immigrants and individuals from underprivileged backgrounds in hopes to inspire and motivate. She is currently in the process of becoming a mentor for underserved children in New York City and deeply believes in the importance of positive guidance and leadership of the youth.
