YSN grad Kleia R. Luckner, '69, was recently inducted into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame. She was nominated for contributions in Health Service and Law. She arrived in Toledo in 1971 as its first nurse midwife. After graduating from Yale in 1969, she taught at Stanford University Hospital and at University of Michigan. Providing a safe and satisfying childbirth experience was, and is, her modus operandi. Through her efforts medical care has improved for women, children, and families throughout Ohio and the nation. Martha J. Pituch, Ph.D., RN, 1991 OWHF inductee, nominated Luckner.
OWHF was established in 1978 by the Women’s Division of Employment services, now part of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
