Joint nursing leadership role will strengthen academic-nursing practice partnerships and advance clinical education, workforce development, and nursing innovation
Yale School of Nursing (YSN) and Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) today announced the appointment of Mary Kay Wegman, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ACNP-BC, as Senior Director of Clinical Affairs and Partnerships at Yale School of Nursing, effective August 24, 2026.
This joint nursing leadership position reflects the shared commitment of Yale School of Nursing and Yale New Haven Health System to strengthening academic-nursing practice partnerships and advancing excellence in nursing education, clinical care, research, and nursing workforce development.
At Yale School of Nursing, Wegman will provide strategic leadership for the school’s clinical education enterprise, including oversight of clinical partnerships, clinical placement infrastructure, accreditation and regulatory compliance, faculty clinical practice initiatives, and the development of innovative academic-nursing practice models that enhance student learning and strengthen relationships with clinical partners.
In partnership with Yale New Haven Health System, Wegman will lead initiatives to expand academic-nursing practice collaboration, including the development of an Academic Practice Fellowship, advancement of nursing workforce innovation, and implementation of joint initiatives that strengthen nursing education, professional development, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and the clinical learning environment for nurses across the health system.

Wegman joins Yale School of Nursing and Yale New Haven Health System from the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, where she currently serves as Associate Director of Clinical Operations. She brings extensive experience leading complex clinical operations, building high-performing interdisciplinary teams, strengthening regulatory and operational infrastructure, and fostering collaboration across Yale’s academic and clinical enterprises.

Through this shared nursing leadership role, YSN and YNHHS will continue to develop opportunities that support the nursing workforce and strengthen the clinical learning environment.
