Bernice Coleman, PhD, ACNP-BC, FAHA, FAAN, has made a strong contribution to nursing through her leadership in various nursing organizations. Most notably, she is a member of AHA Leadership Council on Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing, past chairperson of the Nursing Health Science and Allied Health Council of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and a member of the Nominating Committee for the International Society of Nurses in Genetics. Dr. Coleman is a member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Organ Transplantation.

Her current study, “Genome Wide Association Study: Exploring Heart Transplant Outcomes in African American and Caucasian American Heart Transplant Recipients”, is nearing completion (Clinical Research Feasibility Funds [CReFF] Grant, UL1TR000124).
