Patricia Thomas Becker, PhD, MN, FAAN, conducted research on the effects of the early caretaking environment on infant health and development that has contributed to improvements in the care of preterm infants in neonatal intensive care.

Although retired, she is an associate editor for Research in Nursing & Health, a leading nursing research journal. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and Helen Denne Schulte Professor Emerita at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing.
