YSN Student Recognized with Double Honors

March 28, 2017
Fanta Bayoh (FNP ‘18) is having a great spring. The Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing has chosen Bayoh as a student scholarship award winner. She’s being recognized for both her academic achievement as well as her involvement in the community and for demonstrating the qualities that suggest, according to the awards committee, she “may be a future Nightingale nominee.”

The Nightingale recognition alone would be enough to put a smile on most faces but Bayoh has even more reason to celebrate - she’s also been selected as a Scholar for the 2017 GE-NMF Primary Care Leadership Program.

The program, now in its fifth year, offers medical, graduate-level nursing and physician assistant students an “innovative service-learning” opportunity. Scholars are placed in primary care practice at community health centers across the U.S. and actively engage in leadership training, healthcare delivery and site-directed community projects.

Bayoh will be completing the GE-NMF PCLP in Boston this summer and will receive her Nightingale Award at a ceremony to be held in New Haven on Wednesday, May 10th.
