Summer Intensive

The YSN Office of Diversity and Inclusion Summer Intensive will utilize an interdisciplinary health sciences approach to addressing social justice and health equity. We plan to have 7 diverse scholars from across the country participate. The goal is to support diverse nursing scholars to enhance the discipline overall as well as a strategic approach to diverse faculty career development and to actively enhancing diverse scholars in Nursing Science. We anticipate the summer intensive to be held at Yale’s West Campus during the week of June 12 – 16, 2017

OBJECTIVES:

Identify and encourage early-career nurse scientists from diverse backgrounds in nursing and midwifery who aspire to careers in academic nursing.

Improve the quality of nursing and midwifery research to address social justice and health equity.

Train, mentor and support early-career nurse scientists from diverse backgrounds to conduct such research.

ELIGIBILITY:

Assistant Professors, Research Scientists or Post-Doctoral Fellows/Associates

Must have a PhD and licensed RN and/or APRN

U.S. citizen or permanent resident

STIPENDS: Lodging, airfare, meals, and planned activities will be covered for all participants for the entire week.

A letter concisely describing your research plans with details about your current level of preparation for a research career. Please describe how participation in this workshop would contribute to your research career (2 page limit)

Current curriculum vitae

One copy of prior published or unpublished work that provides evidence of your potential for rigorous nursing research (e.g. dissertation abstract, chapter, article, conference paper)
