September 17, 2018

Last week, Dean Kurth attended the Global Climate Action Summit, an international gathering of public and private sector leaders in San Francisco. One of the summit’s sessions was Higher Education Leadership on Carbon Pricing, an event which focused on the experiences of Yale and other schools in implementing internal carbon pricing on campuses. Former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke at the event, along with Yale Carbon Charge director Casey Pickett and Yale Associate Vice President for Strategy and Analytics Tim Pavlis.

Best practices for implementing carbon pricing on campus were explored, and ways in which institution leaders can engage in public education and debate on carbon pricing were examined. The event was co-hosted by Yale University, Swarthmore College, Second Nature, and the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, which co-organize the Higher Education Carbon Pricing Task Team.
