The Research Coordinator will work within the Yale University School of Nursing and will directly report to the Principal Investigator of the study.

  • Responsible for day-to-day oversight and management of all aspects of the research project according to protocol specifications. 
  • Responsible for database management which may include database design with PI directives, developing survey in REDCap software and data dictionaries. Maintain study-related databases and prepare protocol-related reports. 
  • Monitoring project timelines, ensuring project progress, and assisting the Principal Investigator in monitoring project developments, including implementing changes as needed under the direction of the Principal Investigator;
  • Responsible for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, correspondence, and regulatory binders, including minor administrative amendments. Working with the Principal Investigator to ensure compliance with all federal and university requirements, including the submission of IRB protocols, modifications, and renewals.
  • Assist with job posting, interviewing, and hiring clinical research coordinator and other staff members.
  • Coordination of qualitative dyadic interview and/or administration of qualitative and quantitative interviews.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and data integrity of patient information, which may include medical information. 
  • Oversee workflow direction to junior level staff and student research assistants.
  • Preparing study progress reports for sponsored projects.
  • Performing data collection and study methods, including maintaining recruitment materials and assisting with survey implementation efforts, as well as providing support to ongoing data management efforts.
  • Escalating issues to the Principal Investigator in a timely manner

principal responsibilities
  • Carries out research within the scope of the established study protocol. Adheres to all human subjects regulations as defined by Yale University and the federal government that pertain to research studies.

  • Develops criteria for admission of study subjects based on goals and objectives of project.

  • Determines potential sources of funding and prospective partnerships.

  • Evaluates feasibility of accepting potential projects through analysis of staffing needs, resource requirements, financial costs, and current planned capacity of group. Negotiates contracts and/or changes with funder.

  • Develops original HIC/IRB submissions.  Based on knowledge of science and research goals, collaborates with PIs on major revisions and contributes to scientific protocols.  Plans and implements changes.

  • Develops forms, questionnaires and the application of research techniques; writes procedures manuals for data collection and coding.

  • Responsible for the documentation and transmission of study data.  Ensures that report forms are accurately documented and completed in a timely manner at each site location.

  • Works independently to develop manage and organize multi site studies.  Serves as primary coordinator between University, non-Yale collaborators, pharmaceutical companies, HIC, IRB and funding sources.

  • Performs descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses of data, using computer software.

  • Designs and implements quality control measures to ensure accurate collection and processing of data.

  • Contributes in-depth, original thought and relevance to written reports and to the writing of abstracts and manuscripts.

required education and experience

Master’s Degree in a related discipline and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related experience in a health-related field such as public health, nursing, psychology, health policy, other.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including budgeting, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting.

preferred education, experience and skills:
  • Doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Degree in public health, social sciences, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with database management (Microsoft Access; REDCap preferred) and statistical analysis software (STATA preferred).
