Elizabeth Leary

Elizabeth Leary graduated from Yale University with a master’s degree in nursing, management, policy and leadership, and she earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Pennsylvania State University. As part of her graduate studies, Elizabeth produced a nurse leadership documentary featuring Connecticut Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Linda Schwartz. Schwartz is now the Assistant Secretary of Policy and Planning for the Veterans Administration. Elizabeth also produced a video on nursing images in film for the Yale University Poynter Fellowship in Journalism. She co-authored “Silence of the Unblown Whistle: The Nevada Hepatitis C Crisis,” which was published in the Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine. Elizabeth is assistant nurse manager for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA, where she manages over 60 employees in the hospital’s cardiology division. She has implemented several quality improvement initiatives for division’s inpatient and ambulatory clinic operations in order to better serve the area’s medically underserved patient population.
