Dr. Heng-Hsin (Shannon) Tung, a professor at Taiwan’s National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, has dedicated her career to advancing geriatric and cardiovascular care and developing nurse practitioners (NPs). She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Pittsburgh and a PhD from the University of San Diego.
Her innovative research focuses on digital interventions, such as somatosensory dance and resilience-enhancing web programs, to improve cognitive and physical health in older adults. Dr. Tung has authored over 150 publications on resilience and quality of life in geriatric cardiovascular patients and was inducted into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame 2024.
She pioneered Taiwan’s first books on generative AI in nursing and virtual reality teaching manuals. As President of the Taiwan Association of Nurse Practitioners, she advanced NP development and, as Director of her university’s Nursing Department, established the Family Nurse Practitioner program, influencing health care policy and mentoring future researchers.
