Panel Discussion on Monkeypox

On Thursday, June 9th from 2 – 3PM, the Yale Institute for Global Health will host a panel discussion on monkeypox.  During this panel conversation, we will discuss what is monkeypox, how concerned we should be in the U.S. and around the world, and measures that state, national, and international organizations are taking to monitor and address this issue.

Monkeypox is a rare infectious disease first discovered in 1958. It is a more benign version of smallpox that is endemic in parts of Central and West Africa. In 2022, more than 250 cases have been reported in at least 16 countries, according to the World Health Organization. During this panel conversation, we will discuss what is monkeypox, how concerned we should be in the U.S. and around the world, and measures that state, national, and international organizations are taking to monitor and address this issue.
