All are welcome to join us for a series of eight talks entitled A Psychiatry-Mental Health Lecture Series: The Utility and Salvation of Patient Narratives, which focuses on appreciating the patient’s reality. Sociocultural and historical context, stress/trauma, personality, coping styles, and supports effectively shapes how we can understand and intervene on behalf of persons with psychiatric illness. The talks will take place on the dates in April and May listed below:

4/16 Patient Narratives and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (part 1) with Denise Kearns, RN.

4/20 Patient Narratives and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (part 2) with Denise Kearns, RN.

4/30 Patient Narratives and Urban Trauma (part 1) with Maysa Akbar, PhD, ABPP

5/4 Patient Narratives and Urban Trauma (part 2) with Maysa Akbar, PhD, ABPP

5/7 Patient Narratives and Attachment Trauma with Ellen Nasper, PhD.

5/11 Patient Narratives and Attachment Trauma with Ellen Nasper, PhD.

Talks will take place from 10:30-11:30am on Mondays and 6:30-7:30pm on Fridays (except 5/11 will be 5:30-6:30pm). The talks will take place on Mondays in room B at the West Campus Conference Center, and on Fridays in room 11701/03 at the Yale School of Nursing, 400 West Campus Drive.
