Allison Underwood, MSN, PMHNP-BC
About
Allison is a Lecturer in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Connecticut College and master’s degree in nursing from Yale University School of Nursing. She is expected to complete her DNP in Fall 2022 from the University of Connecticut.
Allison has been in the mental health field for almost 15 years with a focus on serving vulnerable populations and communities. She has been practicing as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Cornell Scott Hill Health Center, a large FQHC in New Haven, since 2015. There she serves adults with severe mental illness and addiction in an outpatient setting, leads quality improvement initiatives, supervises new nurse practitioners, and leads the clinical precepting program for PMHNP students. She is also currently the President of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association New England Chapter.
Research Interest
Allison’s doctoral research has focused on using health information technology, measurement-based care, and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient and population outcomes in mental health.
