About

Angela Richard-Eaglin, DNP, MSN, FNP-BC, CNE, FAANP, CDE® is the Associate Dean for Equity (ADE) at Yale School of Nursing and an Associate Clinical Professor. A Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Dr. Richard-Eaglin is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with over two decades of experience in multiple areas of health care, including Primary Care, Women’s Health, Veteran’s Health, Urgent Care, Disaster Response, and Public Health.

Dr. Richard-Eaglin is a champion for expanding diversity and inspiring cultural intelligence and cultural humility in health professions education and in clinical practice. She also has a strong affinity for Veteran’s Health. In her previous role, she served as the co-Director of a Primary Care Veterans Health Specialty, and she led the development of the only Veteran’s Health Care Specialty in the United States with didactic courses that specifically focus on the care of Veterans and families with content that promotes patient advocacy using cultural intelligence, bias management, and health equity.

As a Certified Professional Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and Unconscious Bias Facilitator and Coach through the Cultural Intelligence Center, Dr. Richard-Eaglin has developed and provides customized workshops that inform practicing health professionals, health professions educators, students, researchers, and staff in multiple departments on the application of CQ to organizational wellness, bias management, and mitigation of bias-influenced health outcomes. She has led the development of multiple diversity, social justice, and antiracism initiatives. She also led the development of the cultural intelligence and diversity statement for the VA Office of Academic Affiliations national NP residency curriculum. As a Board Member-At Large for the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF), she serves as the Board co-lead for the Diversity Committee and the Board Lead for the Preceptor Development Committee. Dr. Richard-Eaglin is an invited member of the National League for Nursing (NLN) Taking Aims Initiative: Structural Racism, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Implicit Bias, and Social Justice Committee.

The guiding principles for her unrelenting commitment to the role of advanced practice nursing are patient advocacy, stewardship of quality care based on the highest standards, and tilting the scales of social justice toward advancing health equity among structurally marginalized, stigmatized, and underserved populations. She leads local and national initiatives aimed at expansion, support, and advancement opportunities for underrepresented students and faculty.
