About

Katy Maggio is a lecturer in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program and Interim MSN Online Program DIrector. She holds bachelor’s degrees from both U.C. Berkeley and New York University, and she earned her master’s degree and completed a post-graduate certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health at the NYU Rory Myers College of Nursing. Katy has served as a preceptor for numerous psychiatric nurse practitioner students enrolled in programs at New York University and Columbia University.

Clinical Practice

Katy has practiced as a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2016. She has worked with clients across the lifespan in various settings including a community mental health clinic, a day treatment program in a New York City high school, a college student health center, as well as in her own private practice. While working in college mental health, she was a member of specialty interdisciplinary teams that focused on the treatment of eating disorders and ADHD. Katy seeks to partner with clients to achieve a holistic understanding of their concerns and to utilize shared decision making in treatment planning.  

Research Interests

Katy’s research interests include the clinical evaluation of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder in adults, complementary treatments for mental health disorders, and the role of the therapeutic alliance in psychiatric treatment.
