About

Martha K. Swartz is a Professor and holds a joint appointment as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Yale New Haven Hospital Pediatric Primary Care Center. Her undergraduate degrees are from Oberlin College and the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

She is the recipient of the Virginia Henderson Clinical Scholarship Award, Sigma Theta Tau International, Delta Mu Chapter, a University of Connecticut Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, the Scholarship for Leadership Award (meritorious) from Nurses Educational Funds, Inc., the Alumna Award for Excellence from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Pediatric Health Care and has also held numerous offices for national professional associations, most recently as Secretary for the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. 

Research Interests/Clinical Practice

Dr. Swartz currently holds a joint appointment as a pediatric nurse practitioner at the Yale New Haven Hospital Pediatric primary Care Center. She has an affiliative appointment with the YNHH Medical Staff in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of General Pediatrics.

Dr. Swartz’ scholarly areas of interest include health related quality of life in children with chronic illness, and editorial and publication practices in nursing.
