About

Nancy Cantey Banasiak is a Professor in the Pediatric Nursing Practitioner specialty. She has been a faculty member at YSN since 1998 and practices at Fair Haven Community Health Center with a focus on asthma. She holds her master’s and doctoral degrees in Nursing from Catholic University of America. Nancy is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners where she is co-chair of the Asthma and Allergy SIG and has also served as a member of their executive committee and treasurer. She was awarded the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Doctor of Nursing Practice studies at Catholic University. Nancy was also named one of the top 25 Pediatric Nursing Professors in 2014 and was awarded the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing.

Research Interests

Nancy’s research focuses on asthma and sleep. Her interest has been driven by her clinical experience working with children and their families with asthma. She is particularly interested in the understanding the effect of asthma on sleep. She will be working closely with Drs. Nancy Redeker and Lois Sadler on the community engaged sleep promotion program for children.
