About

Ginger Sherrick teaches in the GEPN and FNP programs. She brings over 20 years of nursing experience to her role as the Simulation Director from a myriad of practice settings across the care continuum. In her role as the Director of the Simulation Lab,Ms. Sherrick works collaboratively with the school of nursing faculty, outside practice partners, and the community, to develop and provide an active learning environment for students via simulation-based learning curriculum.

Ms. Sherrick holds a Master’s degree in Nursing Education and a post Master’s certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education with a focus in Nursing Education. Her doctoral dissertation is, “Perceptions of graduate nursing faculty on the use of simulation in lieu of traditional clinical hours”. She holds certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator, a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and in Professional Development Nursing. Nationally, Ms. Sherrick is a member of the Outreach Committee for the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning and Sigma Theta Tau International. Locally, she is a member of the Connecticut Nurse’s Association and is past president of the Healthcare Simulation Network of Connecticut. She is also the past president of the Educational Consortium of CT. 

Research Interests

Ms. Sherrick’s major research interest is simulation-based learning modalities and their effectiveness in graduate nursing programs. She is also interested in the use of simulation in decreasing the education to practice gap and the use of simulation in primary care settings to improve patient outcomes.
