Marcia Thomas

Marcia Thomas, EdD, MPH is the Associate Dean for Strategic Operations at the Yale School of Nursing. In this role she serves as the principal administrative and financial officer managing central operations of the school, including the development and implementation of operational and organizational issues, policies and procedures, budget/finance, human resources, facilities, quality assurance and assessment, and university compliance. Marcia is also actively engaged in school-wide strategic planning and assessment initiatives for YSN, including short-term and long-term goals and objectives. Before joining YSN this past spring, she spent 14 years at New York University, most recently as the Senior Associate Dean for Planning, Finance and Administration at NYU’s College of Global Public Health. Prior to her career in higher education Marcia worked in healthcare as a registered dietitian in a variety of settings throughout Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Marcia received a B.S. in Nutrition from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in Nutrition from Penn State, an M.P.H. from Harvard School of Public Health, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania where her research focused on interdisciplinary, cross-school models of higher education with a focus on institutional infrastructure necessary to support such models.
