August 9, 2018

We are proud and thrilled to share the news that Yale School of Nursing’s Dr. Ruth McCorkle has received the American Academy of Nursing’s highest honor of “Living Legend”. The announcement was made today, August 9th, in a press release from the AAN – read the full release here. Dr. McCorkle, who retired from YSN in June following a distinguished career as an oncology, palliative care and hospice nurse, is one of seven nurse leaders to have been selected in 2018.

Each year the Academy recognizes just a small number of honorees. To be eligible, the Living Legend must have been an Academy Fellow for at least fifteen years and have demonstrated an extraordinary, sustained contribution to healthcare. They will officially receive their honors at a special celebration in Washington D.C. in November. Congratulations to Ruth on a truly remarkable achievement!
