Yale School of Nursing is among the top ten best graduate nursing schools in the country, according to the latest rankings by the U.S. News & World Report. The school placed eighth in a three-way tie. This is an especially remarkable achievement given the school’s relatively small size, when compared with the other top schools.
Yale’s overall score for the Master of Nursing Science (MSN) program was 86 out of 100 possible points. Yale’s MSN faculty are deeply engaged in nursing education, scholarship, and practice, with over 97% of the faculty being involved in clinical practice. This was amongst the highest of the schools in the listing. Yale Nursing continues to attract among the brightest nursing students in the country, with one of the lowest acceptance rates, among the other top schools.

Yale Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program placed tenth in the country with an overall score of 85 out of 100, and with a particularly high percentage of faculty holding distinguished memberships and fellowships. Yale’s DNP program prepares nurses to lead health systems and engage in policy to improve people’s health.
In addition to the top ten overall ranking, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) specialty ranked fourth in the nation; the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHN) specialty came eighth; and the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialty placed twentieth. QS World University Rankings – Yale Nursing 6th in world
Yale School of Nursing also placed sixth in the QS World University Rankings, a significant move up from last year when it came in joint-fourteenth place. The QS Rankings focus on academic and employer reputation, and research impact and aim to help prospective students identify the world’s leading schools in their chosen field, with the list of subjects extended each year in response to high demand for subject-level comparisons.
