Clinical Placements

The Yale School of Nursing (YSN) strives to provide students with high-quality clinical experiences that prepare them for success as future clinicians. Clinical placements offered to students in the Graduate Entry Prespecialty in Nursing (GEPN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs may include telemedicine opportunities and/or out-of-state clinical rotations.  Students are responsible for obtaining appropriate licensure in the applicable jurisdiction, in advance of their rotation.

Clinical placements are determined based on a variety of factors, which may include (among other factors) the availability of clinical sites, program requirements, and compliance with state and federal regulations. While YSN strives to align placements with each student’s program goals and educational needs, specific assignments are subject to change at YSN’s discretion and are not guaranteed.

Hybrid MSN Program in Psychiatric-Mental Health

The Yale School of Nursing (YSN) is pleased to offer the PMHNP Hybrid Program to students across many U.S. states. However, at this time the list of ineligible states includes: Alabama, Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Tennessee. are not eligible for admission to the program.

YSN provides clinical placements in Connecticut or telemedicine-based clinical training for all enrolled students. While YSN strives to assist students in seeking in-person placement opportunities outside Connecticut such placements are subject to a variety of factors, which may include (among other factors) the availability of clinical sites, program requirements, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Consequently, specific assignments are subject to change at YSN’s discretion and are not guaranteed. Students are responsible for obtaining appropriate licensure in the applicable jurisdiction, in advance of their clinical placement.

YSN encourages all prospective students to consider these factors when applying to the PMHNP Hybrid Program. If you have questions regarding clinical placements or requirements, please contact ysn.admissions@yale.edu.
