Asa T. Briggs

Asa T. Briggs is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Washington, DC.

He currently serves as the Director of Psychiatry at Unity Health Care, Inc.

He received his Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.

He served as an advisor to The White House for President Obama’s  My Brother’s Keeper Initiative.  He examined the impact adverse childhood experiences had on the mental health of young men of color.

Asa believes communities of color should have contextualized models of psychiatric care.   He is convinced nurses will play a key role in this delivery model by leveraging their expertise in the biopsychosocial model of care.
