Admissions Policies
Re-Application
Applicants to Yale School of Nursing who have applied three times to the same program without an offer of admission will not be allowed to reapply to that program again. Programs that result in conferral of an identical degree are considered the same. This means that the three-year GEPN program and direct entry MSN program, for the purpose of this policy, are considered the same. Candidates may however apply to the DNP program even if they have been denied entry into the GEPN/MSN or PMC programs three times.
Please note Yale University’s Non-discrimination/Title IX Statement.
GEPN | Specialty Switch
All GEPN applicants must choose their specialty prior to applying into the GEPN program and cannot switch specialties once admitted.
Deferral
MSN Programs
Deferral is available to a limited number of candidates per specialty. A formal request to defer must be submitted to the Office of Enrollment Management no later than May 1 of the current application cycle.
Deferred applicants must confirm their intent to enroll no later than January 15 of the year in which they intend to enroll. Those that were not approved to defer will need to re-apply for entry in the following round of admissions.
DNP Programs
Deferral is available to a limited number of candidates. A formal request to defer must be submitted to the DNP Programs no later than May 1 of the current application cycle.
Those that were not approved to defer will need to re-apply for entry in the following round of admissions.
Waitlist
Waitlisted GEPN, MSN and PMC applicants may receive an offer of admission as late as May 15. The offer of admission is only valid for enrollment in the application cycle the candidate applied for thus deferral is not possible. Candidates will have 48 hours to respond to an offer to be admitted from waitlist.
