From November 1-3, the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) will hold its annual Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference in Washington D.C. where three faculty from Yale School of Nursing (YSN) will be honored with awards. Yale School of Nursing will co-sponsor a reception on Saturday, November 3 at 8:00pm at the Marriott Marquis to honor these distinguished nurses.
Dr. Ruth McCorkle will receive the American Academy of Nursing’s highest honor of Living Legend. Read the full AAN release here. Dr. McCorkle, who retired from YSN in June following a distinguished career as an oncology, palliative care and hospice nurse, is one of seven nurse leaders to have been selected in 2018. Each year the Academy recognizes just a small number of honorees. To be eligible, the Living Legend must have been an AAN fellow for at least fifteen years and have demonstrated and extraordinary, sustained contribution to healthcare. YSN’s Dr. Canhua Xiao and Dr. Alison Moriarty Daley will be inducted as fellows into the American Academy of Nursing. Fellows are selected for their significant contributions to nursing and healthcare. New fellows are eligible to use the FAAN credential (Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing) following the induction ceremony.
YSN alumni are welcome to attend the reception.
