Community Healthcare Fund
YSN believes our mission of better health for all people should start right here, in our community. Students gain hands-on experience in local clinical rotations, vaccine clinics, and volunteer programs, while faculty conduct research and provide healthcare services to underserved populations.
Being part of these efforts takes time and money, which is why YSN created the Fund for Community Healthcare.
Your gift will directly support community partnership programs in which our students and faculty proudly participate.
Women’s Health and Reproductive Justice
YSN’s women’s health and midwifery programs are founded on the belief that all people have a right to safe and culturally respectful health care. Nurse practitioners serve as advocates when needed and support the growth of client autonomy by empowering pregnant individuals and all persons to create health and wellness in their lives. YSN’s program for women’s health and reproductive justice supports health care delivery through research, workshops and community collaboration, which encourages a continuity of care.
Gender and Sexuality Health Justice
YSN’s Gender and Sexuality Health Justice Concentration is designed to educate students about the health disparities of LGBTQI+ patients. Students are taught about LGBTQI+ primary care, gender affirming surgery and hormonal care, substance use, trauma informed care, HIV care, global equity, fertility and reproductive care, disability justice, intersex health, and clinical care and health assessment in LGBTQI+ communities.
This training is vital for eliminating healthcare disparities and providing clinically informed care, which makes the Gender and Sexuality Health Justice concentration so immediately important to our mission of better health for all people.
