Student Government Organization

The mission of the Yale School of Nursing Student Government Organization is to enhance the quality of life and education for the whole community by fostering student vision, leadership, advocacy, and action.

The Student Government Organization (SGO) was formalized in 1969 and is meant to serve as a liaison between the student body and YSN administration and faculty. The executive board meets regularly with the Dean of YSN and the Dean of the Office of Student Life and Belonging (OSLB) and representatives attend monthly faculty meetings. We also have student representatives on various YSN and University-wide committees including the Executive Committee, the Curriculum Council, and the Graduate and Professional Student Senate. SGO also works to support other YSN affiliated student groups, plans events, and organizes service projects.

We are here to listen to you. Our goal is to communicate transparently and advocate for students’ concerns while building a community that inspires individual and community growth. Our monthly meetings are open to the entire student body and all students are encouraged to get involved. SGO elections are held yearly in the spring for returning students and in the fall for incoming students.

Students may bring concerns, ideas or questions to the SGO at any time by emailing
