Transfer of Credit Review Policy
YSN allows students in the MSN program to transfer up to two courses from accredited institutions, provided that the coursework meets the AACN Essential Competencies for the student’s plan of study at APRN level. To ensure that students’ knowledge remains current and that they are eligible to meet the requirements for national certification exams, all transfer credits must be for courses completed within five years before matriculation at YSN. Transfer credits are not accepted for the GEPN, DNP. Transfer credits are generally not accepted for specific courses such as Advanced Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Advanced Physical Assessment, unless these courses were taken within five years at an accredited APRN program. PhD students must follow the policies set by the University Registrar. Eligible courses must have been completed at the graduate or professional level, prior to enrollment at Yale, and students must have completed a baccalaureate degree before taking the courses. Only courses with a grade of B or higher will be accepted, and no grades will affect the GPA at YSN. A syllabus with objectives and an official transcript must be provided with the transfer request.
