Graduate Entry Pre-Specialty in Nursing (GEPN)
You begin with an accelerated prelicensure year that brings you to registered-nurse licensure, then continue directly into graduate coursework and clinical training in the advanced practice specialty you choose. Your specialty can be completed at the master’s level or the doctoral level. Whichever pathway you choose, you complete an advanced practice specialty that prepares you to sit for national board certification as a nurse practitioner in your chosen specialty.

Pathways Available
Both pathways begin with a pre-licensure year. After completing this first year, students sit for the NCLEX-RN and obtain RN licensure before continuing into advanced practice preparation.
GEPN–MSN
Complete your advanced practice specialty, earn a Master of Science in Nursing, and become eligible for board certification in your chosen specialty.
GEPN–DNP
Complete your advanced practice specialty and doctoral coursework, undertake a practice-focused scholarly project, earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice, and become eligible for board certification in your chosen specialty.
Who can Apply and How
Applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in any field. A set of prerequisite courses is required before entry. Applicants must choose to apply to the MSN or DNP pathway at the point of application. One application secures your place in the full pathway, with no second admission process between the prelicensure, specialty, and doctoral stages.
