Yale School of Nursing (YSN) is pleased to announce Dr. Xiaomei Cong, PhD, RN, FAAN, as the new Associate Dean of Research (ADR). Dr. Cong is one of the first U.S. nurse scientists investigating cumulative pain and stress in early life and neurodevelopment using biobehavioral and multi-omic approaches. She will join YSN from the University of Connecticut in September 2022 (pending usual reviews).
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Cong as the anchor of our research enterprise at YSN,” said Dean Ann Kurth’90 MSN, PhD, CNM, MPH, FAAN. “She has been an outstanding nurse researcher for more than 20 years and is an exemplary scientist and mentor, with relevant experience as an ADR. I am grateful to search committee chairs Dr. LaRon E. Nelson, PhD, RN, FNP, FNAP, FNYAM, FAAN and Dr. Robin Whittemore, PhD, APRN, FAAN, for all their excellent work throughout this process to help bring Dr. Cong to Yale.”
Dr. Cong’s clinical and research interests include symptom science and biobehavioral, genetic, and genomic markers associated with health outcomes.
“YSN’s strong commitment to research makes the school an ideal environment to continue my work,” said Dr. Cong. “I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues in nursing and beyond at Yale, and engaging with YSN’s superb faculty to support their scholarly impact..”
“Dr. Cong’s extensive experience with the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Nursing Research, American Nurses Foundation, and National Association of Neonatal Nurses, all of which have funded her research, are valuable assets to the YSN community,” said Director of Research Jenna DesJardins.
As part of the school’s continuing long-term investment in its research team, applications are currently being accepted for a new Assistant Dean for Research.
